Tina Horwitz, Founder & Co-Head (Manager/Agent for Literary & Production Artists)


Tina founded Vanguarde Artists Management in 2002, and it has become has become one of the leading literary talent management companies in Canada. A lifelong cinephile, Tina formed the company with the objective of elevating the careers of storytellers and filmmakers across all categories from Showrunners to Directors as well as key talents in Cinematography, Editing, Production and Costume Design.  In 2016, Tina sold WORKIN’ MOMS to CBC and was an Executive Producer on the series. Netflix came in after season two and the series ran for seven seasons to great acclaim.  Tina was recognized by the Royal Bank of Canada as a top female Entrepreneur multiple years running, and has held board positions on the Toronto Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization.  Born in Jamaica, moving to Canada and studying in England, France and Spain, Tina takes a global-minded approach to everything – from food to movies to business and culture.  She holds an Honors BA from McGill University in English Literature, with minors in Spanish and French. 

Jay Horwitz, Co-Head (Manager/Agent for Literary & Production Artists)


Jay has been working with Vanguarde for almost ten years both running the company along with Tina while managing artists directly. He is a life-long voracious consumer of contemporary culture of all kinds with a highly analytical mind and a love of well-crafted storytelling. Prior to working at Vanguarde Jay was a social scientist and research-active scholar in the field of strategic management. He held appointments at Bocconi University, the RAND Corporation, NYU-Stern, and Toronto’s Rotman School. He has been awarded many grants and fellowships for his work in the field. Jay started his career as a media and technology industry analyst advising media executives, consultants, and private-equity/venture capital professionals on the disruptive rise of the internet on media and entertainment. In his time as an industry analyst Jay created research products used widely by practitioners in the industry, and he continued to develop novel and insightful business research products both during his time in academia and even still today. Jay has a BA from Columbia University, an MS from Carnegie Mellon, and a PhD from the University of Toronto.

Amy Stulberg, SVP (Manager/Agent for Literary and Production Artists)


Amy has been with Vanguarde for 22 years and currently serves as Senior Vice President, bringing unparalleled experience and dedication to her roles managing artists and as a senior member of the company.  Amy works with many of the country’s top film and television talent and through years of steady dealing is trusted by the top producer and studio executives.  She began her career in film and television on Tina’s desk initially at Westwood Creative Artists and then in the early days of Vanguarde quickly developing into a skilled artist representative herself.  Prior to working in film and television, Amy managed commercial and fashion photographers at McRann and Malone, developing her initial exposure to and interest in creative talent representation. Amy graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Stage and Screen soon after which she briefly trained as a stunt performer before discovering her true professional calling.
