Guy possesses the important skill of subtlety: affecting moods without distracting the audience, or complicating the process of making a film. He considers story, performance and direction paramount, and aligns his work to those qualities within any given project. Guy understands that film can alter one’s perception of the world, and consequently he works with a strong sense of responsibility for what the culture of films and media communicate.
Guy’s recent feature film cinematography work includes the multiple Canadian Screen Award winning MAUDIE, directed by Aisling Walsh and starring Ethan Hawke and Sally Hawkins. A story close to home for Guy, it follows the life of Nova Scotian folk artist Maud Lewis. The film premiered at Telluride, TIFF, Berlinale and Dublin International Film Festival. Guy also recently shot the upcoming film THE PARTING GLASS directed by Stephen Moyer and starring Anna Paquin, Cynthia Nixon, Melissa Leo, Rhys Ifans, and Ed Asner. Also the upcoming film GIANT LITTLE ONES starring Kyle MacLachlan and Maria Bello.
An alum of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, Guy is originally from the maritime province of Nova Scotia, Canada and currently splits his time between New York City and Toronto.
